Job Description
The Safety Manager is responsible for leading the strategic implementation and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS) and the Emergency Response Plan (ERP). Acting as a pivotal link between senior management and operational staff, the role ensures the organization maintains the highest safety standards through proactive hazard identification, robust risk mitigation, and the management of the Flight Data Monitoring program.
Responsibilities
The Safety Manager’s main duties and responsibilities, accountabilities and authorities are:
- Support, facilitate and lead the implementation, maintenance and day-to-day administration of the Safety Management System throughout the organization on behalf of the AM and senior management;
- Foster an organisational culture for an effective safety management, risk management and occurrence reporting;
- Facilitate hazard identification, risk analysis and management;
- Manage the Flight Data Monitoring programme;
- Monitor the implementation of actions to mitigate the risks as listed in the action plan. (Ref. SRB and SAG);
- Provide reports on safety performance;
- Ensure maintenance of safety management documentation;
- Ensure that there is safety management training available and that it meets acceptable standards;
- Provide advise on safety matters;
- Ensure initiation and follow-up of internal occurrence/accident investigations;
- Identify and assess safety issues and transmit them to the manager(s) responsible for the process(es) concerned, and monitor the appropriate and practicable safety action within set timelines
- Has the authority to develop and implement corrective action as necessary to address audit findings in his functional area;
- Has the authority and is responsible to liaise with regulatory authorities, original equipment manufacturers and other operationally relevant external entities with respect to matters within its functional area;
- Development, implementation and maintenance of CHZ ERP.
Education
Advantage: BA or equivalent degree in relevant subject
Experience
- Must be experienced in EASA Procedures applicable to the airline.
- Have a thorough knowledge of the AOC holder’s safety concept.
- Familiarity with management systems preferably in the area of aviation.
- Appropriate management experience, preferably in a comparable organization.
- Have excellent planning and organization skills and must be accountable and responsible.
- Be self-motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Have independent thinking with the ability to challenge current processes and suggest improvements.
- Must be computer literate.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
