Challenge Group is an international group of companies operating within the aviation industry and headquartered in Malta.
As the Group continues to experience significant growth, we are currently seeking to recruit an Accounting Officer to join our Finance Team.
The selected candidate will play an integral role within the team, collaborating closely with colleagues to support the Group’s accounting operations and ensure the timely and accurate fulfillment of financial reporting requirements.
Responsibilities
- Gaining a thorough understanding of the Group’s business, with particular emphasis on monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes and deadlines.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records.
- Issuing customer invoices, monitoring aged receivables, managing accrued income, and handling related matters.
- Posting purchase invoices and monitoring accounts payable.
- Performing day-to-day accounting tasks, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and inter-company transactions.
- Assisting with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Supporting monthly and annual reporting activities, including but not limited to inter-company reconciliations.
- Participating in assigned internal projects.
- Performing any other duties required to ensure the smooth running of the department.
Education
A minimum of an A Level in Accounts.
Experience
- A minimum of 2 years’ previous experience in a similar role.
- Local experience within the aviation industry, or prior experience with a Big Four
- audit firm or corporate service provider would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of local VAT regulations would also be considered an asset.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate with various departments.
- Professional, reliable, and dependable approach to work.
- Ability to meet agreed deadlines and manage time efficiently.
- Logical and methodical approach to tasks.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to maintain high standards at all times.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of
- Maltese would be considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other IT tools.
- Self-motivated and flexible, with a positive can-do attitude, willingness to learn,
- and the ability to work independently under pressure in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
