Responsibilities
- Understand the facility's cargo warehousing and ground handling business with particular emphasis on the monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting processes and time-frames;
- Manage all financial activities in the company in accordance with the corporate & financial policies of the Group and local legislation, including areas covering Revenue, Receivables, Payables, Cash/Banking, General ledger, Payments and Cash flow management, Taxation and Financial Reporting.
- Monitor and analyze cargo throughput volumes and warehouse handling revenue to ensure accurate and timely revenue recognition.
- Oversee cost control across warehouse and handling operations, including labour, equipment, storage, and utilities costs, partnering with the Warehouse/Operations Manager to monitor capacity utilization and cost efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with customs and bonded warehouse regulations, and other regulatory requirements applicable to cargo handling and storage operations.
- Ensure proper screening and processing of invoices/claims, so that amounts due to Company’s creditors are correctly recorded and paid as per payment terms.
- Ensure that credit control functions are effectively carried out. Manage Company debtors by continuously and proactively analysing, identifying and covering credit risk so that revenues are maximized without jeopardizing Company receivables. Ensure timely follow up and recovery of all debts including under collections so that all dues are recovered within the credit period allowed by the Company/Group.
- Ensure timely and accurate recording, preparation and submission of periodic financial reports/returns/summaries etc. to enable the company’s transactions to be systematically recorded in the Company’s main accounting and reporting systems
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of periodic financial reports to Head Office, for Group financial reporting purposes
- Liaise with external and internal auditors, to assist with the smooth execution of audits. Ensure timely remediation of findings.
- Provide critical financial inputs with respect to the company so that the company’s Senior management can take decisions with full knowledge and awareness of the financial implications
- Ensure compliance in all areas falling within the Finance Department’s responsibility such as local taxes (eg. VAT, Corporate tax, etc) as well as other local requirements (registration and reporting to local government bodies).
- Submit special reports/recommendations to Head Offices’s Group Finance Management on significant developments affecting the Company’s financials so that necessary steps can be taken in co-ordination with the HO for proper handling of such developments.
- Manage, develop and supervise a skilled Finance team to meet the Finance Department’s requirements
- Liaison with other Departments, Head office, and with third parties including local authorities, auditors, banks, suppliers, customers and other parties as required.
- Participate in assigned internal projects
Education
In possession of a recognised University degree in Accounting or ACCA qualification.
Experience
- 10+ years previous experience in a similar local role;
- Good knowledge of accounting and IFRS principles;
- Good knowledge of local and cross-border VAT and tax laws;
- Knowledge of rules and procedures under local laws to handle statutory requirements
- Experience in air cargo, ground handling, or warehouse/logistics operations would be an asset;
- Strong expertise in consolidation, accounting principles, and performance
- management.
